Become comfortable... and let your eyes close...
Take a slow breath in... and a slow breath out...
Let me ask you a question, and don't answer with words — answer with your attention.
Where, right now, is the past?
The past exists only as a thought occurring now. A memory — which is a kind of faint image, playing in this present moment. You cannot go there. You can only think about it — and that thinking happens here, in the now.
And the future? Also a thought. An imagination, projecting itself from this same present moment. You cannot travel to tomorrow. You can only imagine it — now.
So everything that has ever happened to you... happened in a now. Everything that ever will... will happen in a now. The now is not a small doorway between past and future.
The now is the only room that exists. Everything else is a photograph or a sketch hanging on its walls.
And yet the mind is a time traveler. It lives in memories and forecasts, constantly leaving this moment for somewhere else. It calls this "planning" or "remembering" — but mostly it's just leaving.
So let's practice arriving.
Come to your senses — literally. They only know the now.
Sound: listen for the farthest sound you can hear. It can only be heard now.
Sensation: feel the weight of your body, the touch of fabric, the temperature of the air. All of it — happening only now.
Breath: the breath is never old and never waiting. The inhale is fresh, brand new, every time. Feel it being born right now...
And passing away, right now...
If a thought arrives that says "I'm doing this well" or "I keep getting distracted" — notice that even that is just another cloud passing through the now. Let it pass. Return to what's actually here.
What's actually here is breath. Sound. Weight. Temperature. Nothing else. And it's enough. It's always been enough.
Rest now in this moment, which has no edges. Notice that it doesn't feel like a thin slice between past and future. It feels open... spacious... without seams.
This is your actual home. You have never lived anywhere else. You never will.
Gently, let awareness expand back out to the room.
One full breath in...
One full breath out...
And open your eyes — arriving, once again, here.
Well done — you stayed.
You can carry on with The Wave and the Ocean whenever you're ready. There is no hurry.
